La Berlina Gesha Coffee

The Ethiopian cultivar known as Gesha was first introduced to Panama in 1963 in the hope of saving Central America’s coffee plants from devastating strains of coffee leaf rust. Planted at low altitudes, the coffee did not thrive, but in 2004 it was reintroduced at a much higher altitude by an innovative plantation. Shocking the palate with a delicate sweetness and clarity, the Panama Gesha produces sparkling flavours of berry, peach, mango, papaya and guava, with distinctive notes of bergamot and an aftertaste of jasmine. To experience its delicate complexity, this coffee should be filter brewed and served without the addition of milk or sugar.
