In the southern region of the country lies the Valley of Longevity, so called because of the high number of centenarians that lives there, which is something of a scientific mystery with some attributing it to the water quality of the rivers Vilcabamba and Chamba, and others to the mild and stable temperatures (18-22 degrees Celsius). Coffee production also benefits from these wonderful conditions. Cultivated at an altitude of 1,500 metres, the ripe cherries are picked by hand and washed in clear mountain spring water before they are sundried. The resulting brew is full-bodied, expressive and finishes with a delicate note of chocolate. The subtle tanginess and fresh, fruity aroma make for a delightful cup. A coffee to enliven and prolong the joy of life!
