This spectacular harvest is grown around the Albertine Rift Mountains which skirt Lake Kivu, one of Africa’s Great Lakes and the country’s western border with the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Boasting excellent coffee cultivation conditions, this region features verdant highlands rich with volcanic soil. Against this scenic mountainous backdrop at an altitude of 1,700 to 2,100 metres, farmers cultivate small areas of this Red Bourbon variety of washed coffee which produces notes of green apple and hibiscus with a rich and honeyed finish.
