Sao Bento Coffee

Founded in 1899, this plantation is located near the city of Carmo do Paranaiba and grows the yellow Catuai varietal which boasts canary yellow cherries. Cultivated at altitudes of 1,100 metres, this coffee is produced using the pulped natural technique. The raw cherries are sorted in water tanks according to their ripeness, before part of the fruits’ pulp is removed and the beans are put out in the sun left to dry with the remaining fruit pulp. This process ensures that each harvest only contains the ripest, highest quality beans. The brew gives an aroma reminiscent of dark chocolate and this intensifies as it cools, while the flavour has notes of cracked hazelnuts and toffee.
