Perhaps nothing is more refreshing on a hot day than an iced 100% Arabica specialty coffee that is expertly brewed, elegantly served, and full of exquisite flavour until the very last sip.

Crafting an iced coffee only involves a few ingredients. Mastering it, however, requires careful attention to the fundamentals.

Tip #1: Use quality beans.

This is the most important tip to remember, as the quality of your coffee can make or break your beverage. We recommend using freshly ground, medium roast, 100% Arabica specialty coffee to enjoy the finest flavours and aroma. Arabica coffee, in particular, has a smoother, sweeter taste, easily identified by its notes of chocolate, nuts or caramel, and delicious aftertaste of fruit and berries.

Tip #2: Make a stronger brew.

Brew a little stronger than your usual hot coffee so that when the ice cubes melt, the coffee still maintains a rich flavour. Consider using a medium-course grind with a larger coffee-to-water ratio than you normally would when enjoying it warm.

Tip #3: Sweeten while coffee is hot.

Coffee’s flavour notes reveal themselves best when served straight over ice, however, if you do add sweeteners, be sure to add them while coffee is hot so that they dissolve evenly in your cup. Adding Raw Coffee Sugar Crystals can add a nice malty richness— made from 100% natural cane sugar, they sweeten coffee without distorting the bean's flavours. To delay the sweetness, try our Raw Sugar Candy Stick and stir slowly.

Tip #4: Explore new flavours.

Crafted exclusively with specialty-grade beans and 100% natural oils and extracts, our fine flavoured coffees are an exquisite indulgence. Consider our 1910 Coffee, with aromas of freshly picked wild strawberries and jugs of heavy cream— an oasis of flavour on a summer day.

Try a sprinkle of our Pure Vanilla Bean Grinder. The floral and fruity notes of pure vanilla complement every coffee and create a perception of creaminess, without added dairy or calories.

For an exceptional umami-flavoured coffee, our Salted Butter Caramel is a must. Fill a glass with ice cubes, drizzle 1-2 tablespoons of caramel spread into the glass, and pour hot coffee over the ice. Stir immediately, and adjust the level of sweetness if you like.

Tip #5: Not all ice is created equal!

Fill your glass to the brim with solid, medium-to-large ice cubes made from filtered water. The more ice you add, the slower it melts, allowing you to avoid diluted flavour.

Tip #6: Experiment with different brewing styles.

For a stronger, more full-bodied iced coffee:
Try a French press like the one used in our Parisian,Marrakech, or Tokyo Press pots.

  1. Measure 12 grams of coffee for every 180 ml of filtered, simmering water.
  2. Pour water onto the coffee.
  3. Wait 30 seconds, and then stir.
  4. Let it brew four to six minutes.
  5. Slowly press the plunger down.
  6. Pour your coffee into a glass with medium ice cubes.

For a cleaner, crisper flavour with minimal coffee sediment:
Explore a pour-over style using a cotton filter.

  1. Use 25 grams of coffee for every 150 ml of filtered simmering water.
  1. Pour hot water over the filter until it is completely wet, then pour out the excess water.
  2. Add ground coffee to the filter and gently tap it to level the coffee.
  3. Pour water slowly over the coffee, starting at the centre and moving in a steady spiral towards the outer edge of the grounds.
  4. Once all the coffee is properly saturated and the water dripped through, repeat this step an additional two times, or until you have 180 ml of coffee to enjoy.

You can also achieve the perfect iced coffee pour-over with our Coffee Bag Gift Boxes. Each individual coffee bag contains 12 grams (about 2 tablespoons) of 100% Arabica specialty coffee already at the perfect ratio. A mug, simmering water, and a coffee bag is all it takes to brew. Let it cool first, then pour over ice.

Tip #7: Serve in style.

What you serve your iced coffee in matters, as some materials keep the flavour intact more than others. We recommend choosing a beautiful glass and a reusable glass straw— together, they are as elegant in presentation as they are effective in maintaining your coffee’s taste.

Tip #8: Turn leftover coffee into coffee ice cubes.

Don’t let any brewed coffee go to waste. Once it arrives at room temperature, transfer it to an ice tray. Coffee ice cubes are a great way to keep your coffee cool without diluting the flavours over time.
